Payloads for parking garages

Realistic live loads for parking garages on a probabilistic basis

The current load approach on parking garages according to Eurocode 1, Part 1 and the German national annex (DIN EN 1991-1-1:2010 NA) essentially goes back to studies from 1975 with regard to its methodological basis.
In German standardization, adjustments have already been made in view of the increased average vehicle weights. However, measurements and investigations carried out in 2009 showed that the load level tended to be higher.
Within the scope of this research project, extensive investigations are now being carried out again on the calculation payloads on parking garages. Current measurement data will be collected from various parking garages and processed for evaluation. Likewise, the structural effects, the effects of the load action, of parking garages depending on their structural type will be analyzed. Finally, probabilistically determined computational live loads will be determined.
