The development of the international study program and interdisciplinary master program CONSTRUCT:

Master of Science in Structural Engineering and Risk Management of Industrial Facilities

The CWE will be elaborating and implementing the international master program „Structural Engineering and Risk Management of Industrial Facilities“. The development of the international study program is being funded by the BMBF in the next two years and will be in the event of a successful implementation the funding will be extended for three-years. In the context of this project, the international and interdisciplinary master program „Structural Engineering and Risk Management of Industrial Facilities” is being developed in a close and mutual cooperation between the RWTH Aachen University and the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. The master program offers engineers with professional experience the opportunity to acquire additional competences for complex tasks in the industrial plant construction. Here the master program picks up a new methodical approach by not only paying attention to the founded communication of structural bases but also to the intersections between mechanical engineering and process technology which both play an important role in the field of plant engineering. Furthermore the fundamentals of risk management of industrial plants are outlined with the objective to evaluate the results of technical assessments concerning the management of the plant operation. With the interdisciplinary connection of different fields of study the students are faced with a highly qualified and successful task in the industrial plant engineering. The master program is of great importance for Macedonia, where because of the growing industrialisation engineers with the described key qualification are urgently needed. Currently no suitable master programs for further qualification are available. The realisation of the master program in the planed duration of the project of two years is a significant challenge for the project planners and requires already functioning infrastructures for the entire project management. It is for this reason that the quality assurance and accreditation of the master program is being implemented by the RWTH International Academy, whose services are a certain contribution of the RWTH Aachen. Moreover an international research institute in Macedonia with connection to the university has been integrated, which allows networking possibilities with the industry.
