{"id":1438,"date":"2020-09-21T16:00:24","date_gmt":"2020-09-21T15:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cwe.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/?page_id=1438"},"modified":"2020-09-21T16:42:25","modified_gmt":"2020-09-21T15:42:25","slug":"wind-load-of-pv-elements","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.cwe.rwth-aachen.de\/en\/wind-load-of-pv-elements\/","title":{"rendered":"Wind load of PV elements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Client:<\/strong> Industry<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-750 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cwe.rwth-aachen.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Windlasten_1.png\" alt=\"Windlasten_1\" width=\"329\" height=\"171\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The CWE of the RWTH Aachen University was commissioned with wind tunnel investigations to measure the wind loads of photovoltaic systems with east-west and south orientations using small-scale tests.<\/p>\n<p>In a first step, it was determined which failure mechanisms and directions of inflow are to be considered decisively for the respective systems.<\/p>\n<p>The effects of a concrete placement on the roof and the associated flow conditions, as well as spatial and temporal correlation effects could be considered by the chosen scale of 1:150. Measurements were made on a small-scale wind tunnel model to investigate the simultaneity of wind loads on larger groups of PV modules and the effect of changing roof arrangements and installation positions.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-751 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cwe.rwth-aachen.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Windlasten_2.png\" alt=\"Windlasten_2\" width=\"328\" height=\"196\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The aerodynamic effects caused by the detachment and reapplication of the flow, as well as by module shading, were investigated in relation to larger-scale arrangements.
